Control and diagnostics
All MORSE system components are set up and controlled using programs supplied for MS Windows and Linux which RACOM provides free of charge. The programs communicate via the serial port or via Ethernet either directly with the connected device or remotely with any device in the network.
Control programs can be used for setting up or diagnosing the following in firmware:
- radio part parameters (frequency, power…) in radio modems
- communication parameters (addresses, and in radio modems parameters for access to the radio channel, modulation...)
- user interface (parameters of serial ports, Ethernet and user protocols …)
- servicing services (overall status of equipment, real time, error messages, memory acquisition …)
- monitoring operation on the radio channel, serial ports and Ethernet
- statistics (information about the amount and size of transmitted/received packets, amount of repeated/lost packets on individual lines, the audibility quality of other stations, interference, etc.)
- tests allow diagnosis of the quality of individual lines, measurement of error rate, time response, simulation of random loading of individual lines and the whole network, etc.
- it is possible to save and load a file with the complete device configuration
- firmware in equipment can be locked at several levels against unauthorised use
