At RACOM we love getting together beyond the office and our biggest event of the year is the Christmas party. It’s a time to reflect on the past year, celebrate our achievements and look ahead to the future.

This year we gathered at Hotel Medlov, a historic venue dating back to 1934. The current owners are restoring it to its original charm while sharing its rich history with visitors.

Honoring Our Long-Standing Team Members
Loyalty runs deep at RACOM. This year, seven employees celebrated 30 years with the company and three marked 25 years. Their dedication is a testament to our strong company culture.

A New Chapter for Our Founders
In 2024 our founders confidently handed over leadership to a new management team. With the team performing very well, the founders now have more time to focus on their hobbies.

Looking Ahead to 2025
The outlook for 2025 is promising. Here’s to another year of success, innovation, and teamwork!

RACOM is excited to announce the expansion of our technical support team, driven by the growing demand for our products and services, especially following major wins and new customers in the UK market.

RACOM always wants to be as close as possible to its customers, and that is why the new member of the team is Fred Heath from England, an expert with many years of experience in the field of radio modems and microwave technology. Fred spent 14 years at 4RF where he focused on VHF/UHF narrowband radio modems and later on cellular routers. Prior to that he gained extensive microwave radio knowledge initially working as a microwave installation and commissioning engineer, project manager and then for several microwave radio manufactures (Ceragon, Dragonwave…) in pre and post sales technical support roles.

Fred’s training at our headquarters was seamless, as his deep technical knowledge enabled him to quickly grasp the advanced features of our RipEX radio modems, M!DGE cellular routers, and RAy microwave links. He is now fully equipped to provide a full range of technical support to our customers.

Fred’s expertise enhances our team’s know-how and strengthens our ability to provide exceptional support to our global customer base.

We’re thrilled to have Fred on board and look forward to his contributions to RACOM’s projects and customer satisfaction!

The bat in our logo is no coincidence. Like our devices, bat transmits signals to orient itself in space through their reflection. The bat symbol has once again inspired us to use it on this year’s New Year’s card.

For the images of bats we approached children from a small school in Slavkovice, a village near RACOM’s headquarters. With only 30 pupils aged 6 — 10, the school is unique, combining two grades into shared classrooms (1st & 3rd, 2nd & 4th).

The kids outdid themselves, producing 22 stunning bat illustrations! While we could only use some on our New Year’s card, we made a special collage with all their bats, now proudly displayed in our meeting room. Next time you visit us, we’d love to show it to you.

As a thank-you, we gifted the school a new game for their after-school program and donated 5,000 CZK per drawing to local charities — a total of 110,000 CZK! Our Executive Director, Vít Koutenský, personally delivered the gifts. The children enjoyed the visit very much and we hope that one day some of them will join our team.

From all of us at RACOM and the children of Slavkovice, we wish you a successful and joyful year 2025!

We value personal connections with our customers, which remain essential even in today’s digital world. That’s why we traveled extensively in October to participate in several events:

ICEC, Egypt

cairo1

RipEX Radio modems and M!DGE Cellular routers are widely used in the Middle East. After winning several tenders in Egypt for communication in power distribution networks in 2023, we joined the Intelligent Cities Exhibition and Conference in Cairo. At the booth of our partner Xceltra we were represented by David Marek, Sales Director and Muhammad Syed, Sales Manager for the Middle East. David also delivered the presentationNext Generation IP Radio Modems” at the conference. Alongside meetings with current clients, we launched several new projects across Egypt and other countries in the MENA region.

INTERSEC, Saudi Arabia

INTERSEC1

In addition to RipEX Radio modems and M!DGE Cellular routers, our RAy Microwave links are also gaining momentum in Saudi Arabia and other Middle Eastern countries. At INTERSEC in Riyadh, we showcased RAy links with our partner Xtream from Dubai. There was considerable interest in RAy, despite the licensing requirements in Saudi Arabia for all frequencies, including 80 GHz. We expect further growth in KSA in addition to UAE, Bahrain, Oman, Lebanon and Iraq.

SNIR, France

snir1

SNIR is an organization of companies that install, integrate and provide professional radio communication solutions. SNIR represents them towards public authorities, including radio spectrum regulator. Our French partner EBDS represented us at SNIR’s annual meeting and showcased our RipEX Radio modems and M!DGE Cellular routers at its booth. The presentation was met with great interest. The event generated great interest, and we connected with several new, highly qualified partners for integration and installation in France.

Advantec, Italy

advantec1

Advantec, our long-term partner in Italy, annually organizes a customer meeting. This year it took place in the beautiful surroundings of Lake Maggiore in Baveno. This event allows Advantec’s partner manufacturers to showcase their products and the opportunity to personally meet Advantec’s customers. We were represented at the event by Pavel Nešpor, Sales Manager responsible for Italy and David Marek, Sales Director. They had a number of meetings with existing and potential customers and we believe that more will soon be added to the thousand or so radio modems running in Italy.

VAE Controls, Czechia

vae1

VAE Controls is one of the most used suppliers of SCADA systems for the water industry in the Czechia. Many of our MR25 and MR400 Radio modems are still working without any problems for over 30 years in their systems. However, they are now morally and especially security-wise obsolete and will be replaced by the latest RipEX2 and M!DGE3. We welcomed the opportunity to join a VAE Controls customer meeting and training session attended by more than 15 water companies from the Czechia. Our migration solution, which allows a gradual and trouble-free replacement of the existing radio network regardless of the technology used, received a very positive response. Participants also appreciated the opportunity to discuss with colleagues who have already implemented our migration in practice.

Each of these events reinforces our commitment to supporting and expanding our customer relationships worldwide.

Intelligent Cities Exhibition and Conference

30 — 31 October 2024 | Cairo, Egypt

During his trip to the 79th session of the UN General Assembly, the President of the Czech Republic Petr Pavel was accompanied by a business delegation to the United States from September 22 to 28.

The mission focused primarily on start-ups and small and medium-sized companies in the field of cybersecurity and defense technologies, including drones and navigation, communication systems, simulators, and ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance).

RACOM was invited to participate in this mission, and since the focus of the mission overlaps with our production program, we were happy to accept the invitation. We were represented on the mission by Vít Koutenský, a member of our management team.

In New York, a meeting with several US companies was held at the Czech National Building, where the main topics discussed were infrastructure security, unmanned aircraft and vehicles, and autonomous robots.

The next day in Washington we met with representatives of FedTech, an agency responsible for identifying interesting technologies and technology companies for cooperation with the U.S. government. It was also very interesting to visit the Quantico Cyber Hub, a world leader in cyber defense equipment. The reception at the Czech Embassy hosted by Mr. Stasek, the Czech Ambassador to the USA, was a good opportunity to network with representatives of many technology leaders such as Google, Cisco, RedHat

In Chicago, the visit to MxD, an agency focused on digitalization of production and business processes and designated by the Department of Defense as the National Center for Cybersecurity in Manufacturing, was very interesting.

On our last day in Cedar Rapids, we visited Collins Aerospace, a major player in the aerospace industry.

We are very positive about our participation in the mission. In addition to new contacts in the USA, we got to know more about the Czech companies that participated in the mission. This opens up the possibility of cooperation on the domestic market and common export to other territories.

RACOM organizes a «RACOM Day» for its employees at least once a year. It’s nice to get together over good food and drinks, meet colleagues from the Blansko branch, do some sports together and talk about things outside work. Almost a hundred of us attended and all ages from 6 months to 79 years were presented.

Our HR department has prepared several activities this year. We were able to try Nordic Walking under the guidance of an experienced guide. Starting in front of our HQ, we walked more than five kilometers through the beautiful countryside around Nové Město na Moravě to reach the teambuilding site, really «hungry».

We were also able to try a demonstration lesson of physio-yoga. The yoga session was well received and soon another yoga group will be added to the four regular Pilates groups that have been running at RACOM for more than 10 years.

The traditional football match was held at the teambuilding place. Despite the high level of commitment from all players, the game was played respectfully. Fortunately, there were no injuries.

Instead of the traditional petanque, which we skipped this year, a group of enthusiasts played volleyball. We documented everything, so feel free to check out the attached photo gallery.

We are all looking forward to the next event — the Christmas party!

ISP Futuretec 2024

6. 6. 2024 | EA Hotel Kraskov Třemošnice

The process ‘the handover of the company’s management to a new generation‘ which has been underway at RACOM for several years was formally completed in March.

After considering various possibilities, the owners and key people in the company’s management concluded that the best option would be when Marek Bobula, David Marek, Vít Koutenský and Bohumil Sobotka continue to lead the company together. In terms of hierarchy, they are all at the same level and the management of RACOM is without the position of CEO.

The new directors will jointly manage the overall strategy and long-term direction of the company. They are individually responsible for these areas in the day-to-day management of the company:

Marek Bobula — Development and Technology
David Marek — Sales and Marketing
Vít Koutenský — People and Internal processes of the company
Bohumil Sobotka — Production, Finance and Infrastructure

The founders of RACOM, Jiří Hruška and Martin Lácha, are not leaving the company. They work part-time on specific projects: Jiri in SW development, Martin in marketing. If the new management would like, they are always ready to give their opinion and view on the issues they will be dealing with. Bohumil Sobotka, the youngest of the former managing directors, remains in the same position as before and, among other things, ensures the continuity of the former and new management.

Jiri and Martin say: «We are happy that the new management was created from our colleagues who have been working at RACOM for many years. We believe that we are handing over the fate of the company into good hands. We wish the new managing directors the best of luck and thank them for their courage and willingness to take on the responsibility.»

The General Meeting of Owners, as the supreme body of the company, on 26 March 2024 formally confirmed the above and agreed that RACOM will have four managing directors from 1 April 2024: Marek Bobula, David Marek, Vít Koutenský and Bohumil Sobotka.

This step does not change anything significant for the day-to-day running of the company.

Let’s keep our fingers crossed together that RACOM runs as well or better and for at least as long as before with the new management.

The third generation of the M!DGE3 cellular router was launched last year. It has established itself very well among customers and has successfully replaced the M!DGE2, the previous generation.

Our cellular routers are mainly used for data communication in SCADA & Telemetry applications in critical infrastructure for Power and Water, Oil & Gas and other industries. They are also suitable for many other applications where high reliability and 24/7 service are required, such as POS, ATM, Security, etc.

Based on feedback from our customers, we decided to develop the essential version M!DGE3e suitable for less demanding installations. It is built on the same platform as M!DGE3, but we have thoughtfully stripped some features to make it more affordable. Both models are fully compatible.

Together with RipEX radio modems offers an unrivalled solution for combining mobile and licensed UHF/VHF radio in one hybrid network.

The philosophy of the full-featured flagship and its basic version is the same as for our RipEX2 and RipEX2e radio modems. The M!DGE3e does not have the option to be expanded via an mPCIe slot, so it cannot be extended with GPS, other serial interfaces or a second cellular module. There are only two Ethernet and one serial interface, and compared to the M!DGE3, it is missing SFP, digital inputs and outputs, HW tamper and dynamic routing options.

M!DGE2 is gradually being discontinued for new projects and we expect to deliver it only for existing network expansions or in other necessary cases. Of course, we continue to carry out any repairs without any restrictions, just as we continue to maintain the FW.
