Trade name – trade and marketing name of the product. This name is used for all products within the same product family.

Possible values: RAy

Gen. – generation of the product of specific Trade name. The very first generation doesn’t have any number in this position.

Possible values: none, 2, 3

Band – frequency band in GHz

Possible values: 17, 18, 24

Var. – designation of product variant, if it is used. Generally more variants can be used within one unit, i.e. more letters can be on this position. These variants can’t be ordered and included in the unit later on.

Possible values:
E or N or X – Processor type

E – Processor without HW encryption support
N – Processor without HW encryption support. Encryption features will never be possible.
X*– Processor with HW encryption support. When N or E is not on product label, all RAy3-24 units are X, regardless X is on product label or not. ‘X’ variant was under production until III/2021.

R – RF Output power -30 to -15 dBm, otherwise it is -30 to +10 dBm. RAy3-24 only
S – MTU 2048 Bytes, RAy3-24 only, supported until III/2019

FRQ – frequency

Possible values:
L – unit transmits on lower part of the band
U – unit transmits on upper part of the band

RAy3-18 – different HW for upper and lower unit
RAy3-17, RAy3-24 – L/U is used, but indicates only TX default which can be changed, the same HW for lower and upper unit

A or B or C – frequency sub-bands for RAy3-18

Two letters (L/U and A/B/C) are used in RAy3-18 case.

SW keys – if unit is ordered with SW keys, all keys are specified in this bracket. SW key can be ordered independently for specific S/N anytime later on.

Possible values:

Encryption – enables AES encryption. Part. No. RAy3-SW-ENCRYPTION

Opt. accessories – if unit is ordered with optional accessories, it is specified in this bracket.

Possible values:
DC –  DC/RJ45 power adapter, Part No.: OTH-DC/RJ45

Type – specific product type for which type approvals like CE, FCC etc. are issued

Possible values:
RAy3-17, RAy3-24, RAy3-18

Code – part of order code which is printed on Product label on the housing. SW keys and Optional accessories are not HW dependent and can be ordered later on, so they are not printed on Product label.

Order code – the complete product code, which is used on Quotations, Invoices, Delivery notes etc.

In order to find out the correct Order code, please use E-shop.

* The processor included in the unit uses an encryption module listed as 5A002 a.1 in the COUNCIL REGULATION (EC) No 428/2009, setting up a Community regime for the control of exports, transfer, brokering and transit of dual-use items. Units are subject to export control when exporting outside the European union, according to national, EU and US law (ECCN 5A002 a.1): http://ec.europa.eu/trade/import-and-export-rules/export-from-eu/dual-use-controls/index_en.htm

Link Parameters - fixed modulation

 Type
Selected link type.
 Frequency [GHz]
Frequency used for calculation.
 Modulation
Selected modulation.
Throughput [Mbps] For asymmetric channel configuration, the other direction will have different Throughput.
Calculated average transmission speed on ETH – layer1. Based on the relationship between transmission rate and packet size, short packets offer higher speeds and large packets slightly lower speeds.
 Tx power [dBm]
Given Tx power
 Free space lost [dB]
FSL is the loss in signal strength between two line of sight points through free space, with no nearby obstacles creating reflection or diffraction.
 1st Fresnel zone radius [m]
The Fresnel zone defines a space free of obstacles so no attenuation or distortion of the radio signal can occur. This calculation defines a radius of the first Fresnel zone, which has the essential influence for signal propagation.
 Path length [km]
Given or calculated distance between sites.

 Longitude [°]
Measured as the angle east or west from the Prime Meridian, ranging from +180° eastward to −180° westward.
 Latitude [°]
The latitude of the places measured as the angle north or south from the Equator.
 Azimuth [°]
Calculated path azimuth
 Altitude [m]
Calculated height ASL for given points.
 Antenna height [m]
Given antenna height.
 Antenna
Selected antenna type and its gain.
 Antenna Part Number
Part number for selected antenna.
 EIRP [dBm]
EIRP (equivalent isotropically radiated power) stands for the power radiated from the antenna. The radiated power is limited when operating in ISM bands.
The allowed EIRP in the 17.1 – 17.3GHz ISM band (RAy 17) is +20 dBm.
The allowed EIRP in the 24 - 24.25GHz ISM band (RAy 24) is +20 dBm.
 RSS [dBm]
RSS (Received Signal Strength). Theoretical maximum received signal strength (transmission through a vacuum)
 RSS voltage output [V]
This is important for the antenna alignment. RSS is converted to a voltage that is measurable at the unit's RSS voltage output connector.
 Sensitivity [dBm]
The guaranteed sensitivity for a BER of 10-6 for the chosen channel spacing and modulation (and coding in case of RAy 10).
 Fade margin [dB]
The difference between the sensitivity and the RSS value

Calculation accurracy

Racom s.r.o. provides these calculations to assist in your purchasing decisions; illustrating the capabilities of RAy microwave links. Calculations in the model are based on the dataset supplied by Google. Link availability indicators have been calculated using current ITU-R P.530-15 for rain attenuation and multipath fading only. Other losses are ignored. If there is not clear Fresnel zone the calculation results may not be correct.
It is necessary to know the GPS coordinates of the end points and the antenna heights above the ground for availability calculation.
